What makes Smittybilt 2781 Air Compressor outstand others?
I would like to answer this based on past experience I had with Smittybilt while travelling with friends on a weekend that made me fall for this device. At first, you can easily hand carry this compact air compressor wherever you want as it fits in small spaces.
While traveling we had to inflate our tires after a day on the trails, using the Smittybilt portable air compressor. The 32.4″ tires were inflated from 20 psi to 32 psi in 40 seconds each tire. That moves the air far more quickly than ARB CKMA12 compressors do!
The Smittybilt 2781 has so far performed incredibly well, earning a permanent place on our list of off-road and overlanding equipment. Moreover, as compared to the smaller models, this one is much better in terms of performance and portability.
Smittybilt 2781 Air Compressor Review
Smitty has a long history of about 50 years that made them big today. Smitty specifically target quality over quantity in terms of features and products and with this initiative they have outgrown in recent years.
With the longest journey, they kept on improving the quality of their product and without any doubt I can say this Smittybilt 2781 is my best purchase.
A matte black air compressor giving off a vintage aesthetics decoration piece placed in a living room.
With the smallest size and lightweight design, you can place it in your car and take it anywhere you want without worrying about waiting at the gas station to inflate your tires. Few years back, I can clearly recall how annoyed I used to get waiting in the lines.
Furthermore, it comes with a kit that end up saving your money to buy separately such as battery clips, air hoses and case alongside fittings and other gears.
It is an oil-less air compressor, which ultimately means no regular maintenance and extra trips to the workshop. Apart from that, the Smittybilt works for the continuous duration of 40 mins without heating up quickly.
Considering its construction, the water motor shaped air compressor has a cylindrical shaped motor placed on a flat tray surface with anti-vibration rubber feet to provide stability and performance.
Alongside, it has bright yellow colored quick release 24 feet hose and a meter pipe attached to the motor for monitoring purposes.
Anti-vibration feet
The most important feature of this air compressor is the anti-vibratory rubber padded feet that gives you ultimate mobility and strength. In the market there are some models of air compressors that do not include an anti-vibration pad in the box.
When you turn them on, these air compressors will make a hole in any surface you have placed them on, whether it be soil, sand etc.
If your compressor has an anti-vibration pad, you won’t have to deal with as many of the common issues that are associated with purchasing cheap compressors.
Additional tools
The package includes a needle for inflation as well as 2 extra rubber needles that may be used to pump air into your various pieces of camping equipment and accessories. The sizes that are offered must be sufficient to be able to inflate a conventional air mattress that has a more compact inlet.
Performance
The Smittybilt is a 12V air compressor that is a reasonably priced option in the world of air compressors that delivers 5.56 cubic feet per minute (cfm) at no pressure.
This will allow you to make adjustments and repairs more quickly, especially for heavy-duty tires, which will get you back on track more quickly.
Portable device
A Smittybilt air compressor, with its 1/3-horsepower oil-less motor driven engine and 30-amp internal breaker, is the most powerful compression machine in its class. This in return allows you to quickly and easily adjust tire pressure.
Pros:
- Has the maximum airflow
- Comes with auto-thermal cut-off switch
- Equipped with a storage box
- Easy to carry around
- Comes with 1 year warranty
Cons:
- Doesn’t have a CFM/LPM output to run air tools
- Has the proprietary fittings
Why should you buy Smittybilt 2781 Air Compressor?
A Smittybilt air compressor is the most powerful compression machine in its class and can be used to increase or decrease the amount of air in your tires to match different types of terrain. It has a 1/3 horsepower oil-less direct drive engine and a 30-amp inline fuse.
In addition, having an air compressor in your hands enables you to repair or replace tires if and when they become damaged. Having a universal air compressor to fill your tires is quite convenient to use.
If you’re looking for a durable and strong 12V air compressor at an affordable price, this is what you should go for.
Final words:
Compressors for air are essential pieces of equipment on any list of road or off-road gear. They provide you the ability to deflate your tires on the trail for your own protection and comfort, and to inflate them again before you arrive on the paved road.
I hope you enjoy reading this Smittybilt 2781 air compressor review because I really enjoy using this air compressor whether I am travelling or not. One thing more, this is the only compressor that outperformed my expectations and so is the reason I recommend this to others.
